SG50 Picnic at Istana

The first picnic of 2015 that The Ongies had attended is proudly organised by Families for life and President's Office.

On the 3rd of Jan 2015 (Saturday), Istana had opened up for member of public to head up in for fun activities. The Ongies managed to get their package free via online registeration.

The day started with gloomy weather and entering to Istana is at 3pm. Long queues are expected as they have to do routine check and scanning of individual visitors.

It took merely 45min to reach to the scanning point, followed by a long trail of walk to the top.

Despite the long distance walk, it is a gradual slope upwards which may take up to 10min, depending on individual stamina.

Loud music can be heard from far, and there are 2 colored balloons leading the people to event area.

Upon reaching the top, there is a nice big green patch of grass in front of them.  There are small bouncing castle for the kids to play, kicking of balls to the goal post, Milo truck, ice cream/ coffee truck, a tent for tidbits and also a big tent for picnic bags collection.

Jack and Rai were both performing at the stage entertaining the rest of the people who are sitting on the ground munching their favourite food.

Weather had turned from dark and gloomy sky to bright and sunny sunshine, applauding to the weatherman who do not want to spoil the fun too.

Upon collecting of bags, hubby opted to purchase another bag at the cost of $10, which contain some more food in there. Money goes to charity.

The picnic bag is extremely light and useful for future picnic outing. To hubby, such bag worth every penny because of its slink design and easy for storage.

There are more images you might want to look at from Sengkang babies , they sure a lot to share with.

With such a big event space, sitting down and enjoying the food tend to be tough, because this is the first time they entering Istana. Kids nowadays have so much fun and lucky. As there are 2 colored balloons, hubby assuming there are more on top. So he began his exploration.

Walking up to the lodge area, there are photo booth, balloon sculpting, mama shop (apparently not the real one, but all you need to do is to show that you like SG50, then you get a freebies! Cool, huh)

While there are Jack and Rai at the main arena, they have 53A at the lodge.

Hubby was enjoying the music when walking up and thought that they are playing some CDs, but it is not because the tone of the vocal does not sound like original singer. (Hubby is the music and audio lover, hence the sensitivity to music to his ear.)

Exploring the area, there stood the Istana building, majestic and showy, with guards cordoned off the area.

As he wanted to get his kids up to the area, he located the band who had been singing non stop.

They were singing in the shelter whereby everything looked so dark due to the harsh sunlight. No one was around them giving them thumbs up for their hard effort. Oh yeah, of course, imagine yourself singing under hot sun, you might get heat stroke instead. They should get highlighted tho.

Hubby gave them a thumb up and enjoying the music with a small little dance with the kids. Cait loving it so much.

This got to be one of the most tiring picnic ever. However, with the weather turn better, it is worth it after all.

The Ongies will be looking forward another picnic outing with the rest of the family members and friends too. The grand father and hubby's sis family were very happy to come to this event.

It ended well because everyone collapsed upon reaching home. A great 2.4km run for hubby?

Till then, stay tuned! =)
