Busy CNY weekend and praying Tai Sui 2013
It was a very busy weekend with tight timing; glad that it is over and finally having the time to share with the readers.

Cait offered to accompanied Clar as she was punished to sit there. The two girls are in close relationship.
The girls, although surrounded by the boys, are no stranger to them, especially Cait. Ever since her start of extra lesson in school - speech and drama, she seem quite talkative, and more approachable than before.
She tend to play herself instead of hiding behind mummy back, which is what Clar was doing initially, until later on.
After getting themselves warm up, the two girls can played on their own, only Clar will complain a little that someone had taken over her play toy. While the 3 elder boys will play on their own, the youngest had no choice but to look at them.
Don't worry, Jing Yang, you soon will join the gang.

The adults enjoyed talking and doing own things, while the kids will mess around the house. This is so good when there are a lot of kids in the house, right?
Cait and Clar had their fun on Saturday; they could not sleep when they reached home, which is 4pm. So, everyone decided to push their sleeping time to 8pm, so they can go into lala land earlier.
Sunday is sure going to be a very busy day as there are people coming over their house to have steamboat!
Wifey quicken her pace to the market alone and managed to get some of the items before it sold out, while the rest will follow later on. On this very day, which is Lunar New Year Day 8, a lot of people went to market to buy some offering for praying at night, which is cross over to Lunar New Year Day 9, also known as Bai Te Gong, 拜天公.
Both the wet market, fruit stalls and incense stalls were crowded by people. It is consider a very grand celebration because you are praying to Heaven God. You may want to read up on this if you are interested.
This year, hubby decided to do a simple offering to Tian Gong.
Praying for everyone health, luck, wealth and warmth in family; a big thanks for blessing the whole family.
Clar was quite afraid of the lion dance, hence hugging mummy tightly, while Cait love watching it.
It was about 12pm when they got home; after bathing the kids, they have to catch some nap before heading out.
Everyone agreed to pray to Tai Sui Ye, 太岁爷, around 5pm at Paya Lebar, Gu Cai Ba Temple (Sheng Hong Gong), just before the guest come for steam boat session.
They even prepared the steamboat dishes beforehand, got all items sort out after returning back from Giant supermarket! At the same time, they also steam the huat kuey, 发糕.
The keuy they steam themselves rather than buying.
Hoping the crowds will be lesser by 5pm...
They were wrong when they reached the destination! It was a long queue before you can even get priest to chant for you! But registration is a lot simple. Here's some information if you want to know the procedure.
As usual, they have to split for praying while queuing up.
It is racing against the time because they were worried that they might not get home on time. Luckily, this year, the priest and the helpers tried to squeeze as many people as possible to the altar. Only then, the priest will start to chant and say out everyone name.
After doing that, you got to tell your wish, then put the ang bao into the box.
Crazy queue, but pretty fast. As this is the first weekend for praying to Tai Sui, major crowds expected.
When they were done with the praying, everyone have to burn off the papers on hand. Everyone was walking around, making the whole area very confusing, the kids must follow closely.
At that point of time, hubby saw his dad walking towards the lion dance performance, then saw his mom without Cait; he was worried and kept asking where is Cait. Later on, wifey told him that mom had passed Cait to her, then dad took her away!
But hubby did not see Cait at all and that is very worrying!
Thanks goodness hubby saw Cait later on. Luckily bro in law and sister were there to help to keep a look out too.
So, lion dance performance is here to pay respect to the local deity in the temple. Knowing they are rushing for time, Cait mentioned she badly wanted to watch till end, while mom was busy filming it down as well,
Touching the lion head is good blessing, so remember to ask before doing that!
It was 7.15pm when they reached home. Perfect timing ever for the day. In less than 20min, all the friends came; let's start to enjoy the steam boat time!
Hubby also quickly steam up another huat kuey for first day of work! Huat ah!
Cait seem to like the friends of wifey; she kept on talking non stop making the teachers having a bad headache! They were ex coll of wifey, also a pianist and violin teacher!
The two girls really know who to choose.
Cait will want teacher Rose, while Clar prefer teacher Avy. Only Clar, do not want her family to touch her, excluding Cait.
The teachers were amazed by Cait speech, behavior and confident level. It was unlike her before, timid and low in confident. They really kowtow to Cait mentality because her thinking surpass anyone of them!

It had been sometimes since the hubbies, mummies and the kids gathered, so everyone decided that Saturday is the best date. 10.20pm - Preparing all the items for praying at 11pm. In Chinese chi chen, 11pm is consider the next day, which is the Lunar New Yaer Day 9.This is the first time hubby is doing it, a simple offering. Next year, it will be a lot better.
