A Walk to Smith Street, Chinatown

It is great to walk around at Smith Street, Chinatown during weekday night.
Crowds are acceptable, not as squeeze as they thought.

Chinese New Year is coming, so there are a lot of stalls all over been set up, and started selling for their items.

As this is the month of cool, so heading down will be a perfect idea. You can hardly sweat too!

Decoration is the same as before, but they felt that the stalls are not the same as like before. In the past, it is more compact and there are a lot of things to see too. It seem like something is missing out tho.

Thanks to some Chinese New Year music played, at least there are some mood for it.

Will the youngster now, enjoy Chinese New Year as like hubby and wifey times? Maybe this question should pop up when Cait is older.

Jiak Tok

This entry is almost forgotten, hence posting it right now. Jiak Tok is one of the common practice for most Chinese, especially to deity or during hungry ghost month. What is the main purpose for it? Basically, raise fund. Currently, the temple The Ongies often go, is still new and undergoing some renovations, that's where the devotees will come and chip in. Back then, Cait was just few months old when she first attend to such occasion. Now, Clar turn. During the period of bidding and consuming of food, both princesses are quite cooperative and did not fuss a lot until later on. Partly due to heat and noise. But it is a good experience for them. Praying to Tai Sui

It's the period of praying to Tai Sui now during Chinese New Year. Almost all Chinese will head up to temple to get blessing from Tai Sui . For those zodiac sign that crash with the year of Tai Sui must pray for smooth year. Every year, there will be 4 zodiac signs that crash with Year of Tai Sui . Chong is worse than Fan.  It is better to pray to Tai Sui every year; at least you get bless. When praying to Tai Sui , you must not forget to return thanks back before end of year; which is before Christmas Day,  after Dong Zhi . Cait and Clar will get bless as well, same goes to rest of the family. The usual place they often went is at Paya Lebar, Gu Cai Ba Temple (Sheng Hong Gong). You can go and pray after registering yourself; pray to the main altar, then to the 60 Tai Sui before queuing up for the toaist priest to chant. It will be a long queue if you go early or noon.
