Name Game

Recently Wifey and Hubby are considering some names for lil one because Hubby's Mom keeps calling lil one "xiao jian kang" (little healthy one) and the name is getting stuck to lil one! So Wifey and Hubby have to act fast and decide on a name that sounds nice, matches Ong, and hopefully have some meaning to it.

Also, they read in some pregnancy books that baby's ear bones fully harden at about 5mths in gestation, and that is when baby start to be able to hear things, and some babies even kick or get startled by sudden noises or thunder! So naming and starting to call the baby early may have some effects such as when baby is born, he/she may be able to recognise parents' voices and the sound of his/her name. Lol

Wifey and Hubby initially like Ashley, then they came up with variations Ashleigh, Ashlin, Ashley, and lastly Ashlyn but somehow it didn't really register with Wifey and Hubby as it didn't sound smooth when calling her.

Then Hubby said he didnt want strong sounding names like Margaret, Hilary, Victoria and blah blah.. Hubby wanted more girlie name like Tiffany, Alyssa and blah blah..  So Wifey started looking again and came across a name which Wifey liked alot but was afraid it will be very common. Wifey then told Hubby about Caitlin and Hubby also liked it so they started to find variations in spelling like Caitlin, Caitlyn, Caitlynn, Caitlene, Kaitlin, Kaitlyn, Katelin, Katelyn, Katelene. . So now they have to decide which looks nicer to them?? LOL

Jiak Tok

This entry is almost forgotten, hence posting it right now. Jiak Tok is one of the common practice for most Chinese, especially to deity or during hungry ghost month. What is the main purpose for it? Basically, raise fund. Currently, the temple The Ongies often go, is still new and undergoing some renovations, that's where the devotees will come and chip in. Back then, Cait was just few months old when she first attend to such occasion. Now, Clar turn. During the period of bidding and consuming of food, both princesses are quite cooperative and did not fuss a lot until later on. Partly due to heat and noise. But it is a good experience for them. Praying to Tai Sui

It's the period of praying to Tai Sui now during Chinese New Year. Almost all Chinese will head up to temple to get blessing from Tai Sui . For those zodiac sign that crash with the year of Tai Sui must pray for smooth year. Every year, there will be 4 zodiac signs that crash with Year of Tai Sui . Chong is worse than Fan.  It is better to pray to Tai Sui every year; at least you get bless. When praying to Tai Sui , you must not forget to return thanks back before end of year; which is before Christmas Day,  after Dong Zhi . Cait and Clar will get bless as well, same goes to rest of the family. The usual place they often went is at Paya Lebar, Gu Cai Ba Temple (Sheng Hong Gong).
