Hong Kong Trip Part 1
Thanks for the long wait.
It is not easy to sit down and start blogging right away when work just pile up high. Hubby require to process the photos before uploading to his flickr account.
After a long decision, he decided to watermark all his images here.
Going for a oversea trip is not as easy as ABC, especially when you are going with elderly and the kids. The planning and execution were done remarkably by wifey. Hadn't for her, this trip will not exist at all.
It had been a long time since everyone go overseas, let alone talking about the trip with Cait and Clar.
Cait seem easier to bring because she had grown up, but the food is going to give them a bad headache. Whereas for Clar, being hungry always, will not have problem filling up her tummy.
Both of them have their own negative points, but The Ongies ensured that everything must go smooth and well.
The parents, had been thinking of HongKong since the day they started watching HK drama. They were fascinated with the culture, food, and the environment as well. They were very excited to go by plane.
Given wifey thoughtfulness, she sourced out every single details she can. From air tickets, to airport transfer, hotels, tickets... hubby totally take his hat off. Yes, she did all by herself.
In order to have a safe trip, avoiding crowds is a must. So wifey had to find out Singapore holiday, HK and Mainland holiday as well. In order to get lower price for air ticket, ideally, go for non peak period in Singapore, but also ensure that there's no holiday period over in HongKong!
Price to HK via Cathay per head is $300++! And that also included the hotel too!
The trip is 5 days 4 nights; wifey decided to split up the days to stay in TST (tsim sha tsui) and Disneyland (Hollywood Hotel, Lantau Island)
In this way, they end up saving more, because Hollywood Hotel charges lower than hotel Benito! Oh yes, the clue is to find the website for discount coupon. With that, you are entitled for discount on room rates and many more! Remember to search and read what it is written there, it benefits a lot on cost saving.
That's the beauty of the whole trip, save more, right?!
The flight to HK is 6am, so they decided to head up to airport T1 at 0430hrs for light breakfast or shopping. Maxicab had been called for reservation, thanks goodness their neighbor is in this line, so there will not be any delay or no show situation.
The kids slept at 10-11pm, they seem to know that they are going for a good trip! That explain why they are so energetic. As usual, mom was over excited, she simply cannot get to sleep. (Yes... she was very tired through out the whole trip...)
Remember to e-check in before going to air port - a day before.
Try not to get some where 40+ seats if you wanted to view the sky in the plane, because the kids can only see nothing but the wing.
By the time they arrived in airport, there's quite a long queue at CX counter; thank goodness the ongies had done the check in beforehand. But they kinda stuck for 10 min to 20 min plus! The movement is pretty slow tho.
They decided to get one umbrella stroller to HongKong instead. It require to paste a sticker on it, wrapped in up in a big plastic sheet upon boarding the plane.
Queuing up
Ready to fly? Hurray!
Time for a pose before going through the custom.
The Ongies
Just in case the food does not appeal to dad, they decided to buy local food for him to eat before boarding. yes, this wanton noodle cost $6.
Checked in and waiting to board the plane.
At this moment, the stroller had been packed and handled by CX staff.
There's no much time to shop or walk around at the DFS area after breakfast. Everyone was about to board the plane when they arrive to the gate.
This is the most critical moment.
Will the kids scream and shout in the plane? Will they make a lot of noise and etc?
The moment has come... the parents stress...
Clar was siting with hubby and wifey, while Cait with her grandparents.
Since Clar is below 2 that time, she has to sit on wifey lap and fasten the belt (which is provided the CX stewardess) together with her.
Up in the air, safe and sound. Gradually, the kids doze off soundly; therefore, the food had been consumed by all of them.
The total journey is about 3hrs from Singapore.
Cait and Clar had slept for nearly 2hrs until they woken up when mom need to go to loo. And that's when Cait were making a lot of noise in the plane. Wifey had to endure an hour by keeping the kids occupied.
It is a pity that CX does not provide any kids entertainment fun pack! So wifey took out the stickers book, chocolate and sweet to ensure they sit down quietly!
Always remember to bring things to entertain the kids during the flight. You won't want people to stare at you for nothing. Although kids love to make a lot of noise, it is not right to behave like a clown on board of plane.
Till the next blog post...
Stay tuned!
